What a week it’s been! I’m still recovering from a busy couple of days in London, the highlight of which was seeing AC/DC! I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen them now, but they never disappoint, it was awesome. I got the train to Euston after work on Sunday morning, dropped my rucksack off at the room I’d booked in West Hampstead and headed off to Wembley. The weather had been a bit changeable and it rained just before I left the hotel – I hadn’t got very far when I slipped on a wet manhole cover and went flying! It seemed to happen in slow motion and somehow I landed on my arse and hand without doing any damage. I paid extra attention to avoid manhole covers after that!
Exploring Oxford Street and Coal Drops Yard
My train back the following day was in the evening so I had a leisurely stroll along the main road, stopping at the many charity shops (I didn’t find anything I liked though). After a coffee stop I took the tube to Bond Street and spent several hours exploring the shops on Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road.
Later on I went to King’s Cross and ventured to Coal Drops Yard, which had been on my to-do list for a while. Although there weren’t as many shops as I’d expected, I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely atmosphere with people on beanbags watching Wimbledon on a big screen by the canal. After a visit to Beyond Retro (where I bought a fabulous denim jacket) I settled at a canalside bar for a drink and to read my book. It’s a shame the train back was only four carriages and absolutely crammed, but such is the state of rail travel in the UK. I returned home with a few purchases and two massive blisters but it was a fun solo adventure.

I picked up this fabulously fun lip print blouse for £3!
And so the fun is over, but I do have a holiday in Madeira to look forward to. As well as a few maxi dresses that I bought on Vinted for my trip, I picked up this fabulously fun lip print blouse for £3! I’d been watching several others – both in this colourway and the blue version – when this one popped up for about a quarter of the price. How could I resist?
I’ve paired it with my trusty red culottes that I’ve featured many times now. I’ll also try it with my pale pink trousers. I think it would look great with white jeans or trousers, but I don’t wear white. (Never say never though!) The red bag and pale pink satin wedges keep the look simple, allowing the lip print blouse to be the centre of attention.
Do you like to take solo trips or do you always travel with others? I’d love to hear about your experiences!
