Butter yellow seems to be THE colour of the season, and while I generally prefer brighter shades of yellow, I have fully bought into it. Well, when I say that, I mean I bought this top on Vinted. I’ve also searched through the “archives” (aka suitcases) for anything in spring’s go-to colour. I’m very pale skinned, so it’s not the most flattering hue on me. Without the luxury of a tan (real or fake) I need something to add warmth. I’ve mitigated the draining effect by mixing shades of yellow with a little orange. I did consider wearing an orange coat, but I wanted to create a more tonal look.

These retro floral print jeans are a few years old now. (I’ve previously featured them here with a green cardigan.) They’re very high waisted, which works well with the slightly cropped fit of the top. My only gripe is I wish it was just a little bit longer because I keep having to pull it down. I also bought my coat on Vinted last winter. I hadn’t realised quite how bright it was – it’s almost neon – but you know I never shy away from bold colours!
Butter yellow is a surprisingly versatile shade; it looks amazing with burgundy and brown for a more sophisticated look. Pairing it with lilac or powder blue creates a beautiful spring palette. Or for a bold contrast, team it with cherry red, emerald green or deep purple. There are so many possibilities!
Do you love butter yellow? How would you wear it?
