From the power dressing trouser suit yesterday to psychedelic prints with mushrooms and strawberries today…my wardrobe is certainly eclectic! You know I’m a fan of retro and vintage styles, especially 70s inspired outfits. Since discovering The Hippie Shake several years ago when I bought the flower power suit, I’ve been hooked. Two or three times a year I treat myself to something new, usually in the sale. A few months ago I bought this psychedelic shirt and trousers to add to my collection. Well, actually, I bought the trousers first and put them on the bed next to this knitted vest; I wasn’t planning on wearing them together but seeing them side by side I knew they’d work.

Some weeks later The Hippie Shake had another flash sale and I ordered this shirt along with one other. I hadn’t realised at first that the trousers had a matching shirt (oh how I love a co-ord!). The print of the shirt isn’t quite as vibrant as the trousers, probably due to the soft cotton fabric. Close up it has an almost faded look, adding to the retro feel. I still wanted to wear the vest, even though it looks a bit busy. But then mushrooms can only enhance a psychedelic shirt and trousers, right?
I wanted a fun bag to wear with this outfit – a plain one would have killed the vibe. When my eyes settled on this strawberry bag I realised they do look a lot like the mushrooms! Just to hammer it home I’ve added big strawberry earrings too. Even my sunglasses look a bit like strawberries…I promise I haven’t been foraging for special mushrooms in the woods! You never know what you’re going to get with my outfits, to be honest, sometimes I don’t! I open the wardrobe and put on whatever jumps out at me. I can promise you it’ll never be beige though!
